What is UDI

UDI (Unique Device Identification) is a code that is attached to medical device product or package and consists of numbers, letters or symbols to uniquely identify the medical device.

The complete UDI system includes a unique identifier, the data carrier and the database are three parts that uniquely identify the electronic identification card of the medical device product; the data carrier is the data medium that stores or transmits the unique identifier of medical device; the database is the product identifier that stores the unique identifier of the medical device and A database of associated information.

In the context of the information age, UDI is the key element for the realization of automated identification, accurate recall, traceability, comprehensive knowledge, information interconnection and intelligent management of medical device products.
