Dialysis membrane characteristics

- Jul 06, 2019-

Including the effective area, thickness, density, pore size, surface water and hydrophilicity of the membrane.

1. The smaller the thickness and the larger the pore size, the easier the solute penetrates the dialysis membrane.

2. The ultrastructure of the membrane pore channel is relatively regular, and the resistance is small, which is favorable for molecular transmission.

3. The product of the average size of the pore size and the pore size determines the effective area of the membrane, so the membrane area indicated by the dialyzer does not directly reflect the effective area of the membrane.

4. The chargeability and hydrophilicity of the membrane have an effect on the permeability of different solutes. Therefore, some dialysis membranes are made of different materials to improve the permeability and biocompatibility of the dialysis membrane to the solute.
